Futura collaboration with Cinelli Art Program comes from afar. From the enthusiasm for cycling, from Keith Haring’s Rampichino, from New York messengers, from the street culture.
The road that led to this collection has been long and winding. There has always been mutual affection, but it’s the friendship that made it happen in the end.
The Spiral Cap recalls one of the most iconic Futura signs, the Spiral. Since the very beginning, the cycling cap has been a highly recognizable sign of belonging to the cycling culture. Later came the swag, from Coppi, to Merckx, from De Vlaeminck to Hinault and Indurain. In a more recent era, the cycling cap has been adopted not only by roadies, but also by the fresh urban cycling tribes, led by the cycling messengers. In the cross-pollination between street and cycling culture, the cap stands as a clear statement on the head of these New Cycling enthusiasts.
Being Futura a rider himself, with a solid messenger experience, it is no surprise that he put one of his iconic symbols as the Spiral on an equally strong item as the cycling cap. #capsnothats!
